Klean Kanteen is a close-knit family business from California, and pioneers in the design and production of sustainable canteens. It's now hard to imagine that in the early 2000s you couldn't buy a reusable stainless steel water bottle. Plastic was pretty much the only option. When Klean Kanteen sold the first BPA-free stainless steel bottles in 2004, they hoped a few people would take advantage of them.
